Fighting the Evil One

Last Sunday’s Gospel was the beautiful story of the Man Born Blind (John 9). This Gospel is on the Fourth Sunday of the Coptic month of Tuba, and the Lectionary readings for this entire month center on Baptism. An important part of our baptism is to fight against the Evil One who always seeks to separate us from God through sin and deception. We find in this Gospel reading that the anonymous blind man fights for his desire to follow Christ and to worship Him. He is a model for us in our baptism.
