Adam, Christ, & the Baptized

Last Sunday we read the story of our Lord Jesus Christ being tempted by Satan after fasting 40 days and 40 nights. We read it in all three Synoptic Gospels (Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, Luke 4:1–13). Our Savior went into the desert after being baptized by John the Baptist, and he accomplished what Adam failed to do. He overcame temptation, and in so doing, gave us victory over temptation. He comforts us with three different invitations from what Satan and the world offers to us. Listen carefully to this homily and examine where your heart is victorious and where it needs to arm itself.
