Joy of the Nativity

In last Sunday’s Gospel, taken from Lk 1:57-80, St. John the Baptist is born to St. Elizabeth and St. Zacharias, and St. Zacharias is filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesies about Jesus Christ and John the Baptist. His canticle is the product of his period of silent mediation on the Holy Scriptures and through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. In addition, the Catholic Epistle, taken from I John 2:24-3:3, speaks about abiding in Christ. We abide in Him through our sacramental life in the Church. If we abide in Him, and meditate on the readings of this season, we’ll rekindle within ourselves the joy of this Feast of the Nativity, and we’ll be able to celebrate it with a pure spiritual joy. May the blessings of this feast be with you all.
